Diesel Fuel Resistance of HDPE

Is HDPE compatible with Diesel Fuel?

Compatibility Rating

At 20°C
A
Excellent
Excellent resistance - recommended for continuous use
At 50°C
C
Fair
Limited resistance - short-term exposure only

Why is HDPE resistant to Diesel Fuel?

HDPE shows excellent resistance to Diesel Fuel due to its tightly packed molecular structure and chemical inertness to most acids, bases, and salts.

⚠️ When NOT to use HDPE

Avoid using High-Density Polyethylene with strong oxidizing acids (nitric, chromic), chlorinated solvents, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Maximum service temperature is around 80°C.
