Frequently Asked Questions

How do I compare chemical resistance of different materials?
Use the comparison tool above to select 2 or 3 materials from the dropdown menus. The tool will show side-by-side chemical resistance ratings (A through D) for over 1,600 chemicals at both 20°C and 50°C. You can search for specific chemicals, filter by rating, and highlight differences between materials.
What do the chemical resistance ratings A, B, C, D mean?
A (Excellent) means the material has outstanding resistance and is suitable for continuous contact. B (Good) means limited resistance — suitable for intermittent contact. C (Limited) means the material may swell, lose strength, or degrade over time. D (Not Recommended) means the material is not suitable for use with that chemical.
Which materials can I compare?
You can compare any combination of 24 materials including fluoropolymers (PTFE, FEP, PVDF, ECTFE/ETFE), elastomers (NBR, EPDM, Viton, Silicone), commodity plastics (HDPE, LDPE, PP, PVC), engineering plastics (Nylon, POM, Polycarbonate, PETG), and metals (Stainless Steel 304, Stainless Steel 316, Aluminium).
